Salary:

  Top Base Pay: $119,792

  Certified Officers Starting: $80,500 and up to $107,497 (Based on experience)

• Please download the certified police officer application from the Village of Arlington Heights Recruitment website (https://www.vah.com/government/departments/police/police_recruitment.php) and submit to the Human ResourcesDepartment Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.Certified Lateral Applicants are not required to attend the orientation or register for testing session.

Minimum Requirements:

• Must be 21 years old by date of written exam; maximum age of under 35 years unless the age limit is reached after being placed on Eligibility list (unless otherwise exempt by Statute)
• Must be a U.S. Citizenor legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must possess a valid driver's license
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
• Must possess an associate degree. In lieu of an associate degree, you must have one of the following:

1. 60 semester hours of credit toward a bachelor’s degree from an institution of higher learningaccredited by the U.S. Department of Education
2. Have served for 24 months of honorable active duty in the United States Armed Forces and not havebeen discharged dishonorably or under circumstances other than honorable
3. Have served for 180 days of active duty in the United States Armed Forces in combat duty recognizedby the Department of Defense and has not been discharged dishonorably or under circumstances other than honorable

Optional Orientation Information:

A virtual orientation session will be made available for all candidates. You may attend the live virtual orientation on June 20, 2024, or view the orientation recording at any time after this date. The link will be made available at a later date.

Testing Information:

Eligible candidates will be required to attend the mandatory testing. You may choose which testing session you would like to participate in. The following sessions will be made available:

• In-Person Testing - Saturday, June 29, 2024. Testing will be conducted in the morning/early afternoon at a location in Arlington Heights. Exact details will be supplied at a later date. This will be an in-person exam session. You must submit your application by June 6th to be scheduled for this session.
• Virtual Testing - Week of September 16th, 2024. Testing session(s) will be offered during business hours. No weekend or evening sessions will be available. You must submit your application by August 22nd to be scheduled for this session.
• Virtual Testing - Week of December 2nd, 2024. Testing session(s) will be offered during business hours. No weekend or evening sessions will be available. You must submit your application by November 7th to be scheduled for this session.
